Unseen World, Sub-dimension #647P

Amroth strode towards a long parapet, his face set in a serious expression. He placed his hands on the low stone wall, and looked down at the courtyard that lay below him, enclosed by the colossal walls of an immense castle. The courtyard was full of white spirits who looked up at him, expectant expressions on their faces.

He took a deep breath, puffing out his chest. “As you all know by now, a great war is about to begin. And rest assured, it is a war that we will win. In order to succeed in our endeavor, we must do two things: we must swell our ranks even further, and we must fight.”

He turned to his right and began to pace along the length of the parapet. “Half of you will help with this first effort. You will spread yourselves through these lands, enlisting others to our cause. In order to do this, you will not need to deceive them, or flatter them: all you will need to do is tell them the truth. Tell them that they, like you, are judged and looked down upon by the existing regime, belittled and shamed simply because they are not one of the hundred most powerful gods in the entirety of existence. However, if they join us, we can overturn this order, and they can take back the power that is rightfully theirs. And you can take back the power that is rightfully yours.”

He turned to his left and walked in the other direction. “The other half of you have an equally important task. In order for us to emerge victorious, you must be able to fight. So you will be trained.”

He looked up towards a turret across the courtyard and nodded. Seconds later, a large bell began to toll, and as the bell’s metallic reverberations began to echo through the courtyard, winged demons flew up, over the walls. They hovered above the crowd of spirits who stared up at them, their jaws dropping, looks of terror coming over their faces.

Amroth smiled as he watched the cowering ghosts. “Now, now. There is no need to be afraid. These will be your instructors. They will show you how to use the many weapons that lie in the armory. How to maim, how to kill and how to bring the regime of Bondye to a deserved end.”

He looked out over the crowd of spirits, still in shock from the appearance of the demons. He nodded to the crowd. “I wish good luck to you all.”

He turned away from the courtyard and entered into an inner chamber. It was a vast study, the walls lined with bookshelves, and a large set of stained glass windows overlooked an ornate wooden desk. Hermes sat at the desk, his feet on the top. He glanced at Amroth, smiling, “That was quite the speech.”

He nodded, walking closer to the desk. “Thank you.”

Hermes stood up and walked towards him. “One note, though. When you’re trying to do a big talk to hype people up, maybe don’t freak out your audience with a bunch of flying demons.
